The Written Description of the Video Project
Purpose
I am the Women Club Coordinator at the Turkish Cultural Center in Westchester. The Turkish Cultural Center (TCC) is a nonprofit organization and has seven different locations in New York. The TCC organized different events such as Turkish coffee nights, annual friendship dinners, cooking classes, talks and more. The TCC also organizes trips to Turkey and I want to invite some professors, religious leaders and politicians from Westchester to this trip. To invite these people I need a presentation where I can show how the trip is organized. Therefore, I will prepare a video where I will show first who the TCC is and then pictures from previous Turkey trips. In summer 2010 the Senator Suzi Oppenheimer joined this trip with her husband and I will show pictures from this trip and other pictures of Turkey. I will also add a short video where Suzi Oppenheimer talks and explains that everybody should join the trip.
Audience
This video is for people who will be invited to the Turkey trip. Professors from the humanities, religious leaders, journalist and politicians might be eligible to join this trip for free. They have to pay only the plane ticket from the US to Turkey. My audience is well educated, from different ethnicities and religions. Therefore, I will choose pictures which show the diversity in Turkey.
Tools
To make this video I will use “Windows Movie Maker”. It is easy to use and I could find on YouTube different videos which explain how to use this program. I also will use YouTube-mp3.org which converts videos to mp3. It is very easy to use because you have to copy paste the YouTube URL and click to “Convert Video”.
Rhetorical Choices
The first part of my video will be a remix of different videos about the Turkish Cultural Center. This part will explain the work of the TCC and show some pictures from the events. I will use the original music and voice of these videos.
The second part will be a remix of pictures from Turkey, from the Turkey trip of the Senator Suzi Oppenheimer and also her video. I will chose pictures from Turkey which shows the important historical places in Turkey. Through these pictures I will point out how different Turkey is and how the modern and traditional life style goes hand in hand in Turkey. Therefore, I will try to find music in the background which has traditional Turkish sounds and also modern sounds.

My Favorite Blogs and Remix Videos
Since, I live here in New York it is hard for me to find some nice outfits because I wear the scarf and I need long skirts, scarf or other thinks I need. Fortunately, last March I met an American Turkish Designer who designs for woman with scarf. She is a famous designer and she also designs for the First Lady of Turkey. Her name is Elif Kavakci and she grew up in Texas. We have a lot of in common. She doesn’t feel only Turkish or American. She is like me a bilingual. She has a bilingual blog where she posts all her new designs or dresses which can be worn by women with a scarf. This is perfect because I know where I can go shopping and therefore, I am following her blog. She also designed a special scarf, which can be worn on graduation. On my graduation I used one of her designs and it was a blessing because it looked great
I noticed that I could relax best when I am baking or cooking. I made it my habit to make or cook for hours or days after I hand in my final papers. I think, during the semester I am using only my head and through cooking and baking a give my brain a time out. I mean, all my friends benefit from this and I enjoy it when my cooking and baking makes my friends happy. The only issue was for me when I started this tradition to find recipes where I can combine the German cousin with the Turkish one. During my research I found this blog where a Turkish lady posts all his experimental recipes. I even didn’t know that it was a blog and she is like me. She has her PhD and does cooking and baking to relax.
In April 2011 I found out that I am pregnant. So, I am following a German blog about pregnancy and how I can manage my morning sickness, cravings and other side effects of the pregnancy. I am now 16 Weeks pregnant and I have to eat every 2-3 hours something. I cannot eat big amounts and this is the reason why I am eating sometimes during the class since I get hungry. Hopefully, I am still loosing weight because I can only eat fruits, nuts or some other things. Oh, by the way, this is the first time that I made my pregnancy public. I did not tell everybody that I am pregnant…
Last year in Spring my siblings forced me to open a facebook account. I knew it that I would waste my time with communicating with old friends and relatives. At the beginning I tried to understand what all these symbols meant and I got help from my siblings. Now, I am spending hours on facebook. I found a video on youtube how to use facebook and it is funny because it is black white and plays in the 1930s. The speaking voice sounds very American. Maybe, it is time to think where the human relationships are going because its enough to leave a message on Facebook to say Happy Birthday. Is this really the new area of making friends?
I am not good with technique. I think I am a victim of all the computers and especially printers because they are not doing what I want them to do. I found this video on youtube and I think it explains my situation. I think a Stickman is following me to make my life harder I hope through the digital literacy class I can learn some tricks and tips how I can start fighting against the Stickman.
My name is Ayse and this is my last class.

I am also working with the Turkish Cultural Center in Westchester. It is a non profit organization and we are trying to become the bridge between the Turkish and American Community. Therefore, we are organizing cooking and Turkish classes for everyone who is interested to get to know about Turkish people and culture. We also organize Bake Sales for people in need. In April, 2011 we have organized a Bake Sale for Japan. For more information click here
